Joanna Polkowska

Joanna has been supporting clients in the field of intellectual property for over ten years. Prior to joining the law firm of Żuraw and Partners, she worked with renowned Polish and international law firms. She also worked as an IP in-house counsel for one of the largest Polish cosmetics manufacturers.

Joanna has extensive experience working for global and Polish entrepreneurs operating in diverse sectors, including FMCG, pharmaceutical, apparel, automotive, New Technologies, e-commerce and toy industries.

She specializes in intellectual property and unfair competition litigation. She has represented clients in a wide range of complex litigation and negotiations involving, among other things, exploitation of third party’s product reputation, parallel import, infringement of business secrets or misleading advertising. She also has extensive experience in conducting administrative proceedings in the field of industrial property and arbitration proceedings concerning Internet domain names. She has successfully appeared before the Supreme Administrative Court (NSA) in precedent-setting cases concerning the granting of supplementary protection rights for medicinal products and patents for computer-implemented inventions. Her practice also includes comprehensive advice on drafting and negotiating all contracts with IP elements and other commercial agreements, with a particular focus on IT contracts and outsourcing projects.

In her work, she focuses on seeking effective solutions that fully address clients’ business needs while minimizing legal risks.

She has conducted training lectures for trainees at the Polish Chamber of Patent Attorneys. She is a speaker at renowned industry conferences.
